California Native Plant Landscaper Certificate Program

The California Native Plant Landscaper Certificate Program is a vocational training program designed for landscape professionals. Developed by top California native plant experts, it gives students the tools they need to successfully manage CA native plant and CA-friendly gardens. During the pilot phase of this program, the entire nine class curriculum is FREE for professional landscapers and gardeners. At the end of the course, participants will receive a certificate of completion and learn tools for using their knowledge and skills to promote their business. (ESPAÑOL)

This pilot program is offered by the Theodore Payne Foundation in partnership with California Native Plant Society, and the US Green Building Council Los Angeles. This project is generously supported by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Community Partnerships Program. Contact pros@theodorepayne.org if you have questions.

20th Anniversary Celebration Event at China Creek Park

On March 9th, 2024 from 10AM-2PM, please join us at this beautiful, wild Valley Oak woodland. Directions to the park are here.

We really want the community to learn about this hidden gem. There are going to be guided walks with experts on birds, mushrooms and plants and signage along the trails to give information about the native plants. It’s an unpaved flat trail, so appropriate shoes are encouraged. Bug spray is also encouraged.

There will be a Children’s table to plant acorns, coloring pages of various native plants, tree rubbings, and acorn grinding. They may also partake in removal of invasive plants, the main activity of the park's regular volunteers.
